Fire Safety
As many of you know, both Mr. Dave Clapp, and Ms. Ann Slagen have recently retired from the fire safety unit of the Office of Facilities Planning. As we work to absorb their duties with other staff in the office, delays may occur regarding the receipt of Certificates of Occupancy.
In that Annual Certificates of Occupancy are issued based on the results of the annual fire safety inspection, if your district has submitted clean fire safety reports without non-conformance's, or reports with non-conformance's corrected with date of correction properly noted, the building technically has a certificate of occupancy and you will receive the printed copy of the annual certificates of occupancy as soon as possible. Any reports identifying uncorrected violations will be issued either a temporary 30 day Certificate of Occupancy or No Certificate of Occupancy, depending on the severity of the violations. Work should immediately proceed to correct all violations.
Districts should have copies of the fire inspection reports available for review by any interested persons particularly if the Annual CO has not yet been received. (11/3/10)
