The Ottoman Empire Reached Its Zenith During the Reign of Suleiman the Law Giver

When overland trade routes that that brought Europe its spices, silks, perfumes and other exotic goods were cut by the Ottomans, Europe sought to establish new trading routes to Asia. Columbus’ voyages brought the Old and New Worlds into permanent contact. His subsequent voyages led to further exploration, colonization - an exchange of foods, diseases, and technologies that proved to be an early step toward globalization that had major impacts on Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
